Aurora CEO Honored by the National Academy of Engineering

Academy membership is one of the highest professional distinctions for an engineer

Washington, DC, September 30, 2018 – Aurora Flight Sciences President, CEO, and Founder Dr. John Langford was honored by the prestigious National Academy of Engineering as a newly-elected member. The academy recognized Langford for his work on the application of autonomy and robotics to the design, development, production, and operation of advanced aircraft.

“National Academy of Engineering members are senior professionals in business, academia, and government who are among the world’s most accomplished engineers,” said NAE President Dr. C.D. Mote, Jr. “Their expertise, spanning all areas of engineering, is dedicated to providing advice on national needs to all areas of government. Langford was among 83 new and 16 foreign members inducted on Sept. 30 at the academy’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., and joins more than 2,000 peer-elected members.

The National Academy of Engineering is a private, independent, nonprofit institution that provides engineering leadership in service to the nation. The Academy has more than 2,000 peer-elected members and foreign associates—senior professionals in business, academia, and government who are among the world’s most accomplished engineers. They provide the leadership and expertise for numerous projects focused on the relationships between engineering, technology, and the quality of life.
