Aurora’s Aerostructures group specializes in design, build-to-print and rapid prototyping of airframes fabricated from advanced composite and metallic materials. We offer a full service solution; maintaining the unique ability to rapidly engage our best-in-class engineering and manufacturing talent to rapidly prototype and produce new products. Our mission is to provide the best value and total solution for integrated aerostructures assemblies and components.

The Aerostructures engineering team has the tools, skills, knowledge and experience to design, analyze and validate advanced components. As part of our aerostructures design-to-build capability our engineering team provides airframe engineering services to our customers, where Aurora engineers work closely with our customers’ technical teams to address material, process and production capability issues. We also provide low-cost tooling solutions that include tool design, NC programming and tool fabrication services to help our customers a chieve their challenging program schedules. We are proud of having supported prestigious customers such as the Lockheed Martin Corporation’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP) group and The Boeing Company’s Phantomworks team on several development programs.

Our program management team has successfully transitioned several newly designed complex military aircraft to rate production. For the US Navy’s CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopter system development demonstration (SDD) program, Aurora is demonstrating its production readiness and transition-to-production expertise in support of a new naval helicopter platform undergoing concurrent design and manufacturing development. On this program, Aurora is a first tier contractor to the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and is proud to be within Sikorsky’s ‘Top 100 Supplier’ list.

During the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the Global Hawk RQ-4B program, Aurora worked with the Northrop Grumman Corporation to setup a new production line in support of the newly designed RQ-4B platform. The transition of the new design to rate production at Aurora’s West Virginia facilities was a success. Today Aurora is a Platinum-rated supplier under Northrop Grumman Corporation’s supplier quality rating system.

Aurora’s Aerostructures group is committed to serving its customers to meet all program requirements and deliveries. We are well-known in the industry for our agility, flexibility, and responsiveness while possessing the program management prowess to interface with and serve large primes on military aircraft production programs in support of the Department of Defense.

Aerostructures manufacturing capability resides primarily at two sites: Bridgeport, West Virginia and Columbus, Mississippi (combined capacity of almost 200,000 square feet) where the Aerostructures team provides expertise in both composite and metal manufacturing.

Aurora’s facilities offer clean rooms, autoclaves, extensive non-destructive inspection capabilities, large component ultrasonic C-scan capability, an extensive machine shop as well as all other necessary equipment for high-quality aerostructures fabrication.
